How to Track Your Day's Progress on a Mac: Menu Bar Apps and Dock Timers

Apple's widget help covers widgets on the desktop and in Notification Center, not in the Dock. Moor's widgets include time progress, which shows how much of the day has passed (for example "Day 54%"). With Moor's Mast part it can sit in the menu bar as a one-line value, while Clock, Countdown and Focus Timer go in a Moor dock. Menu bar apps like Day Progress, YearBar and Progress Bar are alternatives.

Dim Every App but the One You're Working In on Your Mac

macOS can't dim apps. Its Focus feature only silences notifications. Moor's Zone mode adds the visual part: it dims everything except your working apps, and nothing gets closed or quit. Turn it on from Moor's menu bar under Modes, or run it from a Shortcuts action. To use it with a Focus Timer, start the timer and turn on Zone mode yourself. Moor's documentation doesn't say Zone mode follows the timer on its own.

Add a Focus Timer, Countdown and World Clock to Your Mac's Dock

Apple's Dock can't hold widgets, but a Moor dock can. Press Control-Option-E, choose Add in the toolbar, and pick Clock, World Clock, Focus Timer, Countdown, Stopwatch or Time Progress. Drag the widget into place, then click it while you're still editing to change its size (icon, wide or extra wide) and its settings. Press Done, or Control-Option-E again, when you're finished.

Mac Dock Keyboard Shortcuts Worth Memorizing (and How to Set Yours)

Apple's Dock has a few built-in shortcuts: Control-F3 (or Fn-Control-F3) moves focus to the Dock, and Option-Command-D shows or hides it. Moor adds more: Control-Option-1 to 9 switch profiles, Control-Option- goes back to the last one, Control-Option-Space opens the profile picker, Control-Option-F searches and Control-Option-E edits docks. To remap or clear any of Moor's, open Settings → Shortcuts.

Separate Dock setups for work and home on your Mac

macOS has no built-in way to save and switch Dock layouts. To keep a different Dock for work and home, save each setup as a profile in Moor (menu bar → Manage Profiles → Save Current Dock as New Profile…). Then switch with Control-Option-1 to 9, the Control-Option-Space picker, an optional trackpad swipe, or automatically when you plug in your work monitors.
