Put Shopify and Stripe Sales Numbers in Your Mac's Dock
Short answer
Apple's Dock can't show sales, but Moor's Shopify and Stripe widgets can. Press Control-Option-E, choose Add and pick Shopify or Stripe. Then open Settings → Accounts & Keys and paste the key. Shopify needs an Admin API token that can read orders. Stripe needs a restricted key that can read Balance, Charges and Customers. Click a tile to see today vs. this time yesterday and a seven-day chart.

If you run a store or a SaaS, you probably check your sales dashboard more often than you'd like to admit. Each check means a new browser tab, a login and a page load, all for one number. Putting that number in the Dock means it's always on screen, so checking costs you nothing.
Why the built-in Dock can't do this, and your options
Apple's Dock holds apps, files and folders. In System Settings → Desktop & Dock you can change its size and magnification, along with settings like position and auto-hide. macOS 26 Tahoe didn't change how the Dock works. It added an icon style setting, not live data.
Stripe's mobile app does have push notifications, a daily summary and lock screen widgets on your phone. On the Mac, you need a third-party app, and there are several:
- CoolDock is a second Dock that can follow sales from Polar, Stripe, Dodo Payments and Shopify. It supports macOS Sonoma 14.0 or later.
- Dockset added a Shopify widget for sales, orders and traffic, with charts, and also has Stripe and Paddle setup.
- MRRDock is a free, open-source menu bar MRR tracker covering Stripe, RevenueCat, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Dodo Payments and Gumroad, with keys in the Keychain.
- Summer Money is a one-time-purchase menu bar app for macOS 11 and later that connects with a Stripe restricted key.
- Totals connects Stripe with a restricted key that has Balance set to Read.
- Cashbar is a menu bar app for macOS 10.13 and later that shows your Stripe balance, with more detail when you click its icon. Its site was last updated in December 2019, so check it directly for current pricing and setup.
This guide covers Moor, which runs on macOS 26 and later. Its Shopify widget shows today's sales and orders against yesterday, with a 7-day chart. Its Stripe widget shows today's volume, payments and balance. Both sit in a dock next to your apps, as an icon or a wider tile.
The key each revenue widget needs
Every revenue widget reads your data with a key you create in that service. Here are the two this guide covers, taken from Moor's Revenue docs:
| Widget | Key | Where to create it | What it shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify | Your store's address plus an Admin API access token that can read orders | Shopify admin → Settings → Apps → Develop apps | Sales and orders since midnight (excluding cancelled and test orders) |
| Stripe | A restricted key that can read Balance, Charges and Customers | Stripe → Developers → API keys | Succeeded charges net of refunds, payments, new customers, available and pending balance |
Getting the Shopify token
Shopify's community forum puts it at Settings > Apps and sales channels > Develop apps. Click Create an app, give it the read_orders scope and click Install app. Shopify then shows the Admin API access token, and it only shows it once. Copy it right away. Every Admin API request sends this token in an X-Shopify-Access-Token header.
One caveat: a post on Shopify's developer community forum reports that apps created in the newer Dev Dashboard show a client ID and secret rather than a fixed token. That's a community report, not official documentation, so treat it as a heads-up. Moor's docs describe the Develop apps token, so create your app that way.
Getting the Stripe key
In Stripe, open Developers → API keys and create a restricted key with read access to Balance, Charges and Customers. Read access to those three is all Moor's widget asks for, so you can leave every other permission off.
Worth knowing: Stripe's API has no single "today's revenue" figure. A GitHub issue on another dock widget project notes that a today total has to be built by summing transactions created since local midnight. Treat the tile as a quick glance, and use the Stripe dashboard for your books.
Step by step: add the widgets
- Press Control-Option-E (or choose Edit Docks from Moor's menu bar icon).
- Choose Add in the toolbar above the dock, then pick Shopify or Stripe.
- Drag the widget where you want it. It shows Set Up until it has a key.
- Open Settings → Accounts & Keys and paste the key in that service's section. For Shopify, enter your store's address too.
- Choose Test to check the key. The widget fills in within a few seconds.
- To switch between icon, wide and extra wide sizes, click the widget while you're still editing.
- Press Done, or Control-Option-E again.
You can also add widgets from Settings → Docks → Items → Add Widget. Moor stores your keys in the Mac's Keychain and sends each one only to its own service. Keys never sync or export, and Moor's local API for scripts and AI agents can't read or change them. More about widgets in Widgets.
Reading the today vs. yesterday drill-down
The tile shows the number you care about. Click it for the details:
- Today vs. this time yesterday.
- Average order.
- A seven-day chart. Past days are fetched once and cached.
- The newest orders or payments.
- A link to the dashboard for anything deeper.
Click the tile again, or press Escape, to close it. Lemon Squeezy, Paddle and Gumroad tiles work the same way. RevenueCat shows MRR, active subscriptions and trials. App Store Connect shows sales from your reports.
Milestone and evening recap notifications
Open Settings → Accounts & Keys → Revenue notifications for two alerts:
- Milestone notifications as your day's sales grow.
- An evening recap of the day.
Both need macOS's Notifications permission. Moor asks for it the first time one of these would notify you, and Settings → Permissions lists it.
Tips and tricks
- Several Shopify stores. Add one Shopify widget per store. They sit side by side, each with its own label.
- One total. The Revenue Summary widget shows every revenue source together. It's handy if you sell on Shopify and bill through Stripe.
- Keep it private on calls. Turn on Hide Revenue Figures (menu bar → Modes) and money widgets show ••••. Moor also hides amounts automatically while you share your screen in Zoom. Meeting mode (Settings → Automation → During calls) hides them once a call app such as Zoom, Teams or FaceTime has used a microphone for a few seconds. See hiding revenue while screen sharing.
- Ask Siri. The Shortcuts action Today's Revenue returns today's totals as text, so you can use it in a Shortcut or ask Siri.
- Give sales their own dock. A slim dock on a second display or a side edge can hold just the revenue tiles, so your main dock stays tidy. See a dock on every monitor.
- Only at work. Keep revenue widgets in a Work profile and leave them out of your Home profile. See separate Docks for work and home.
If a widget stays empty after you add its key, choose Test in Settings → Accounts & Keys. Check the key's permissions: Shopify needs read access to orders, and Stripe needs Balance, Charges and Customers. If the widget still shows Set Up, click it to finish its settings.
Next steps
Create one restricted key in Stripe or a Develop apps token in Shopify. Add the widget and test it. Then turn on the evening recap so you get the day's total without opening a dashboard.

Common questions
What Stripe permissions does Moor's Stripe widget need?
It needs a restricted key with read access to Balance, Charges and Customers, and nothing else. Create it in Stripe under Developers → API keys. Paste it into Moor's Settings → Accounts & Keys, then choose Test. The widget then shows succeeded charges net of refunds, payments, new customers, and your available and pending balance.
Which Shopify token does the Shopify widget use?
It uses your store's address plus an Admin API access token that can read orders. You create it in the Shopify admin under Settings → Apps → Develop apps by making an app with the read_orders scope and installing it. Shopify shows the token only once, so copy it right away and paste it into Moor's Settings → Accounts & Keys.
Can I see more than one number, like a weekly trend?
Yes. Click a Shopify or Stripe tile in the dock and you'll see today compared with this time yesterday, your average order, a seven-day chart, the newest orders or payments, and a link to the dashboard. Moor fetches past days once and caches them. Click the tile again or press Escape to close the details.
Are there other Mac apps that show Shopify or Stripe sales?
Yes. CoolDock is a second Dock that can follow Stripe and Shopify sales on macOS Sonoma 14.0 or later. Dockset added a Shopify widget and has Stripe and Paddle setup. Menu bar options include MRRDock (free and open source), Summer Money, Totals and Cashbar, which shows your Stripe balance. Check each app's own site for current pricing. Moor requires macOS 26 Tahoe or later.
Where does Moor store my Shopify and Stripe keys?
Moor keeps your keys in your Mac's Keychain. Each key is sent only to the service it belongs to and is never synced or exported. Moor has no accounts or analytics, and its local API for scripts and AI agents can't read or change your keys. An agent can add a revenue widget for you, but you connect the account yourself.
