# Getting started

Moor runs from your menu bar. The first time it opens it saves your current Dock — before it changes anything — as a profile called **Default**, and keeps a separate copy you can always restore.

## Requirements

- macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
- Accessibility permission for app badges, minimized windows and jumping to windows (Moor asks when a feature needs it).

## Download, trial and license

1. [Download Moor](https://moorapp.com/download), open the zip and drag **Moor** to Applications. It's notarized by Apple and updates itself (menu bar → **Check for Updates…**).
2. Everything works free for 14 days, no card needed.
3. [Buy a license](https://moorapp.com/buy) ($29 once). The moment checkout finishes your key appears with an **Activate in Moor** button — one click and you're done. You can also paste the key into **Settings → General → License**.
4. Lost your key? [Find it](https://moorapp.com/license/) with the email you bought with and your billing postal code.

## The setup guide

On first launch Moor opens a short guide (you can reopen it any time from the menu bar → **Setup Guide…**, or `moor://setup`):

1. **How Moor runs your Dock** — pick one:
   - **Keep Apple's Dock**: Moor saves and switches its apps and settings. Nothing new appears on screen.
   - **Replace it with Moor's dock**: glass docks on any edge or display, with widgets. Apple's Dock hides.
   - **Use both**: Apple's Dock stays and Moor's docks sit alongside it.
2. **Permissions** — each one switches on specific features; skip any you don't want:
   | Permission | What it's for |
   |---|---|
   | Accessibility | Badges, minimized windows, window menus, jumping to an agent's window |
   | Notifications | Agent finished, revenue milestones, the daily recap |
   | Calendar | The Next Event widget and the Calendar peek |
   | Screen Recording | Window previews when you rest on a running app (optional) |
3. **Connect your services** — widgets that need an API key (Shopify, Stripe, RevenueCat, App Store Connect, GitHub) are listed; add keys in **Settings → Accounts & Keys**. Keys are stored in your Mac's Keychain.
4. **Shortcuts** — the keys worth knowing (see [Automation](/docs/automation/)).

## Getting your old Dock back

Choose **Restore Original Dock…** in the menu bar or **Settings → General → Your Dock**. Quitting Moor also brings Apple's Dock back. See [Privacy & safety](/docs/privacy-and-safety/).
